Catherine Palace Pushkin Russia 2

The hubby and I decided to trek out
to Catherine Palace in Pushkin
from Saint Petersburg via the commuter train.
The issue?
We didn’t speak Russian,
very few of the stations had signs
(and the stops were very short)
and we didn’t know how many stops there were.
So what I did (not ashamed of looking the fool)
was at each stop,
I’d stand up and say “Catherine Palace, Pushkin.”
A very nice man in the same car would shake his hand
and motion me to sit down.
Next stop, the same thing.
By the time we actually got to Pushkin,
everyone was laughing
(and we got off at the right stop).
Chain Bridge Budapest Hungary 2

Travelers wishing a bit of history
with their shopping go to Grand Market Hall,
the largest indoor market in Budapest.
However for bargains,
the Ecseri Flea Market is the place
to pick up inexpensive food
(try the goulash) and souvenirs.
The souvenir to bring home for that chef in the family?
Paprika.
