Is Versailles Haunted?
As with many old homes, Versailles is rumored to be haunted.
The most documented case was in the gardens of the Petit Trianon on August 10, 1901. Two English academics, Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain, claim to have seen men dressed in “long greyish-green coats with small three-cornered hats”, the uniform of Marie Antoinette’s Swiss Guards. They also saw the sinister pox marked Comte de Vaudreuil standing by a gazebo and Marie Antoinette sitting on a stool, sketching by the main building.
I did not see any ghosts during my visit. However, I was there in full daylight.
So explore with caution.
