The Venus Drawing Room

The Venus and Diana Drawing Rooms served as upper vestibules to the Ambassadors’ Staircase until it was pulled down in 1752. The marble decor matched that staircase. The paintings in the corners of the room depict famous lovers in history. The false perspectives on the side walls and the trompe-l’oeil statues representing Meleager and Atalanta were painted by Jacques Rousseau.

Light meals were served in the Venus Drawing Room.
