Mazatlan, Mexico
Carnival Splendor docked in Mazatlan at 9 am and left at 6 pm. This gave us pretty much the full day in the Mexican city. We enjoyed walking along the boardwalk (the Olas Altas Promenade) and exploring the Historic Center (Centro Historico) with the highlight there being the Cathedral. The people were friendly. The vendors were persistent yet polite. We had a great time and spent less than $10 for the entire day (and that $10 was spent on a trip to Stone Island, tips, and we bought a bottle of water). It was truly a frugal stop.

Market
Almost every town in Mexico has a market and Mazatlan is no exception. There was a variety of meats and fish in this market. There’s also a craft market for souvenirs. Remember to negotiate for a lower price. It is expected.

There are some lookouts situated along the Olas Altas Promenade. They aren’t really kid safe (not the best maintained, no guardrails, etc) so keep an eye on the little troopers. They give some wonderful views though.
