Iguana On Tree Wilhelmina Park Oranjestad Aruba

The first time we visited Aruba, we spent the day at the beach and we didn’t see a single iguana. This second time, we trekked through the desert near the California Lighthouse, and I was spotting brightly colored lizards like crazy, but no iguanas. Then we passed Wilhelmina Park, and there were iguanas EVERYWHERE. We just had to laugh.

The ecologically-protected electric-green iguanas that inhabit Aruba are mild-mannered leaf-eating creatures that sun themselves on rooftops and rocks. With determined destinations in mind, they have the right-of-way wherever they wish to be.

Drinks In Trattoria El Faro Blanco Restaurant Aruba

Next to the California Lighthouse is the Trattoria El Faro Blanco Restaurant. After trekking around the desert, we were very, very thirsty. We were surprised to see that the soft drinks in the restaurant were reasonable. The restaurant also has some amazing views of the other shoreline and the desert. The employees were friendly and helpful, making jokes. They were wonderful people to meet. I recommend that you stop in for a soft drink and a smile.

Although Kralendijk isn’t a huge place, it does have some shopping, with quaint buildings and restaurants, and a craft market for trinkets and art.
