Pedro, The Tortoise

This tortoise was walking (very slowly) in a yard in Mazatlan. While I was snapping photos through the gate, a girl living there came home. She very nicely brought the tortoise closer for photos and told us his name was Pedro.

There are plenty of pelicans in Mazatlan. They follow the boats and the fisherman throw them scraps.

Along the Olas Altas Promenade, there’s a concrete pool type structure. We visited during low tide and the water was very low (with colorful tropical fish trapped inside). There were openings to allow the waves to freshen the water and, I assume, during high tide, to fill the pool (creating a safer place for children to swim as the area has strong currents and high waves).

While looking for fish, we bumped into a nice couple from Canada. They were driving along the Mexican coast. Their plan was to visit the small villages along the way. Unfortunately, the roads are so confusing and the driving so tension filled, they didn’t feel comfortable stopping. They only hit the larger cities (like Mazatlan).
