THE souvenir to get from Venice
is Murano glass.
You can travel to Murano itself
and see the free glass blowing demostrations
or if pressed for time,
almost every gift shop in Venice
sells some.
You can buy tiny samples as keychains, etc.
Eating, as in most European cities,
is a leisurely affair.
We were in a hurry
and made the mistake of asking
how long our pizza would be.
The pizza was quick
but not cooked,
a yucky, doughy mess.
Unfortunately the beautiful Salute
was under repairs when we visited.
This church was built
in 1629
as a response to the plague
and can be seen from the Grand Canal.
