Crabs On A Rock Castries St Lucia

St. Lucia is lush with vegetation and life. We spent some time watching the crabs skitter along the rocks, dodging the waves. It was very peaceful.

Derek Walcott Square is across from the Immaculate Conception Church. This park has some very, very old trees (one is over 400 years old) and a pavilion. We visited soon after Christmas and there were lights and wires strung and hanging everywhere. It looked like an accident waiting to happen.

One of the wonderful things about traveling is the surprises, the unexpected moments. We were wandering by the Immaculate Conception Church in Castries and we saw all the fancy cars parked outside. We asked a vendor what was going on, and she said an important wedding. One of the cars parked outside (with a military uniformed driver) was waiting for the Governor General as she was attending. We watched the beautiful bride go into the church, and then we sat on the benches outside Derek Walcott Square and listened to the singing and other music. It was a wonderful, memorable experience, and made our day in St. Lucia unforgettable.
